Biography
Lola Mey (real name Lolita Melzer) was born on the 27th of February 1995 in Breda, the Netherlands. She likes to sing and to dance since she was a child and she has always been listening to the radio, which is playing all day long at her parents’ home.
Lola started creating her first songs when she was 11 years old. At 15, she picked up the guitar and from then she seriously developed herself as a singer-songwriter. Lola has been singing in choirs for over 10 years, with performances on TV, such as the Dutch classical music program Podium Witteman. She also played in several bands as a guitarist. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degree for musicology at the Utrecht University and followed a singer-songwriter course in Amsterdam. After that, Lola also followed and completed courses on music production, sound technician, recording, music marketing and singing. She has her own studio at home where she records and produces her songs.
In the summer of 2023, Lola Mey’s long awaited debut single, Simple-Minded, was released. Lola likes to make catchy, poppy and melodic songs that can touch people. Nowadays, she is focused on making lyrics about consciousness and personal development, based on her own life experiences. With that in mind she released her first EP Body Kindness in 2026, based on her own mental health struggles and calling out for more attention and love for the body.
